The match is quite important as the team that will win today will be into the finals of the ICC World Cricket Cup 2015 and will compete against the New Zealand who are already in the Finals after beating the Proteas, South Africa in an Heart Pounding match.

India today can be into the Finals without laying the match against Australia. This is because of a fact that according to the Authorities their at Sydney Cricket Ground, Rain can be poured today while the match will be on. According to the Department, their is a good layer of clouds over the Sydney that will let the rain fall and if the rain will poured then the match could be derailed or stopped.
The Fact and Rule: According to the fact, If during a knockout match, anything happen due to which there is a need of stopping the match or dismissing the match, the team, that is on the top of a pool will be declared winner and will be moved into the next round.
In this case, If today, rain falls and the match is dismissed then Australia will lose from India and India will be given permission to step up into the finals of the World Cricket Cup 2015 just because India is at the top place in the Pool B.
